About Roam Radar

What It Is

Roam Radar is an independent, traveler-focused dashboard for Canadians. It tracks international roaming coverage across major carriers to help clarify where coverage may apply before leaving the tarmac. Search by country or browse the interactive map to see which destinations offer roaming coverage under a specific carrier. For most carriers, destination pages also show published roaming prices.

Why It Was Built

Millions of Canadians travel internationally every year and face the same silent trap: not knowing what their phone plan actually covers until they land resulting in surprise roaming charges. Carrier roaming pages are often buried in fine print, outdated documents, and complex portals. Checking coverage should be as simple as looking at a map, which is why Roam Radar centralizes this data into a single, interactive reference guide.

Coverage Directory

The coverage directory is a searchable list of every destination tracked on Roam Radar. Plan & Coverage

The map reflects standard roaming inclusions. A final verification with the carrier is always recommended for specific plans before traveling.

In these cases, your phone may not be able to connect to a local partner network. The most reliable way to confirm whether your specific plan includes coverage for a destination is to contact your carrier directly before traveling.

A visible signal does not always mean an active roaming connection. The local network may not be a supported partner for your carrier, or a roaming pass may not be active. Confirming your carrier's supported destinations and ensuring a pass is in place before traveling is recommended.

Yes, for most carriers. Their destination pages show the daily roaming rate, travel pass prices and pay-per-use rates in Canadian dollars, as listed on the carrier's own roaming page. Taxes may apply, and your plan, promotions or account may change what you pay, so confirm the price with your carrier before you travel.

The dashboard identifies which travel passes or roaming plans may apply to each country based on publicly available data. Verifying exact details and plan eligibility directly with the carrier is recommended.

The dashboard identifies where roaming is possible, but actual speeds depend on local partner networks in each country. While many roaming plans support the fastest available networks, the experience may vary based on local infrastructure.

Most Canadian carrier roaming destinations are land-based. Certain carriers may offer travel passes that include cruise ship connectivity, though coverage details vary significantly by carrier and plan. Checking your carrier's travel pass details directly is recommended before traveling.

If you are using a third-party travel eSIM or local SIM card, the coverage on this map does not apply. This data is specifically for users keeping their original Canadian SIM active while traveling.
